What we can do for you...

The Veterans Resource Center is a centralized resource hub, easily accessible and widely available to all veterans and their families. We will help you navigate through the challenges of transitioning from the military to a civilian/academic environment.

Using our extensive network, we can assist in all aspects of transition to help make you successful as you obtain your degree. We will help you determine your eligibility, file for your benefits, transition courses and even work on personal needs in the process.

We have counselors from other VA agencies for employment, disability claims, New Mexico Veterans Services related questions. We will also have PTSD counseling available for veterans.

How do we do it?

The Center uses a 3 prong approach to serve New Mexico's veterans:

  1. Outreach—we come to you.

  2. In-Center Services—you come to us.

  3. Networked Services—we know the people, we’ll make sure you get the appointment.

Outreach

We visit local communities and bases to inform all veterans and their dependents of what possibilities are out there.

We help veterans and their dependents understand what the University of New Mexico has to offer. UNM’s main campus is located in Albuquerque, but we have branches in Los Alamos, Valencia, Gallup, Taos, and an extension in Rio Rancho.

We work with other colleges to maximize their military experience credits. The Veterans Resource Center staff can answer many life questions about transitioning to this area and environment as they too are veterans and have done it successfully.
