More Fun!

A lot of effort has gone into just making the visit to our website a bit more fun. There are a number of new features that are simply there for the users enjoyment, including the newsletter, the news sections, and more apparent social media attention.

News Sections

The previous website didn't lend itself so well to updates. Now when we feel that we must call attention to something, we will place it in the "What's Happening" news section. This section will always appear at the bottom of the homepage and it's how you got here! If you click on "Read More", the story that you would like to read will appear at the top of your screen while some others remain in view. Just remember that the important new stuff will be listed in the section that looks like this,

We are putting more effort into shedding light on the UNM veteran culture with our semester newsletter. It will be filled with the big events for the time along with new VA developments and relevant community occurrences. The newsletter is accessible through the News and Events tab or anywhere that this icon appears,

Social Media Attention

We are also putting some more effort into staying connected with you all through the outlets were you may spend a considerable amount of time. We want for you to see us around and think about us, so we're dusting off the cobwebs on our social media accounts! We do a very serious (and enjoyable) job, but our Facebook and Twitter pages allow us to connect in a more lighthearted manner. On a professional note, our LinkedIn initiative is an exciting new aspect of the website refinement. We have built quite the professional network so that we may further assist with the search for employment. Shortcuts to our pages on these particular sites are ubiquitous throughout our website. The service that we provide is plagued by the search for the information that is relevant vs. that which is not. The search can be daunting, but we are here for guidance. The new site provides extremely clear paths for your desired information. There are no more labyrinths for getting to the correct forms, programs, or benefits. If there are still more complications in the selection and execution processes, you know who to call to sort it all out!

New Emphasis

We, of course, were already exceedingly appreciative of the service of our female veterans. With all of the new developments for women in military service, and the continuing battle against the problems that they have faced for so many years, we want to make it perfectly clear that we are on our women veterans' team. We are dedicated to assist of all of our veterans, and we will leave no one unattended. Please see our Women Veterans page, you do not have to be female to visit it!

Future Streamlining

We are not stopping here, there are plenty more ideas in development that will be tested and refined after the new site launch. To name one of the big ones, we are working on instant certifying official and front desk chats so that one can ask questions from outside of the VRC and get the answers that they need. Another is the ability to submit forms online rather than in person. One will notice that the new site allows for electronic form filling automatically, which will be extremely useful when one is not able to be at our UNM location. There is still more to come, we're just getting started!
