Students using VA Education Benefits at UNM for the first time should begin by completing the appropriate application through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Certify Your Classes at UNM

These forms are required to certify your enrollment after you've completed the VMRC New Student Orientation. Please see below for more information on the VMRC NSO.

Required of all students submitting certifications via email

Semester Hold Acknowledgement Form

Required for:

  • Chapter 31 (Veteran Readiness & Employment)

  • Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill®)

  • Students applying for a VA Work-Study position should also submit a résumé and cover letter.

CHAMPVA School Enrollment Certification Letter

  • Used to verify student enrollment for CHAMPVA eligibility.

Active Duty Military Tuition Waiver 

  • For eligible Active Duty service members and their dependents attending UNM.

UNM Military Withdrawal Form

  • For military-related withdrawals from courses.

 

New Student Orientation

First time using VA Education Benefits at UNM?

All students using VA Education Benefits at the UNM Main Campus for the first time are required to attend the Veteran & Military Resource Center's New Student Orientation (NSO).

During orientation, you'll learn:

  • How to certify your classes

  • Required certification paperwork

  • Important VA deadlines

  • Common student mistakes to avoid

  • Services available through the VMRC

  • Meet our veteran and military-affiliated staff

The orientation lasts approximately 2 hours, with multiple dates available throughout the semester.
