Students using VA Education Benefits at UNM for the first time should begin by completing the appropriate application through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

New Student Orientation
First time using VA Education Benefits at UNM?
All students using VA Education Benefits at the UNM Main Campus for the first time are required to attend the Veteran & Military Resource Center's New Student Orientation (NSO).
During orientation, you'll learn:
How to certify your classes
Required certification paperwork
Important VA deadlines
Common student mistakes to avoid
Services available through the VMRC
Meet our veteran and military-affiliated staff
The orientation lasts approximately 2 hours, with multiple dates available throughout the semester.
